Located on the Azorean island of São Miguel, the Gorreana tea factory is the oldest tea factory still in operation in Europe. Founded in 1883 by Ermelinda Pacheco Gago da Câmara, the company is still a family business. The humid and rainy climate, the mild temperatures and the acidic and volcanic soil have made it possible to produce high-quality green and black tea.

Gorreana tea is grown without the use of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, colourings or preservatives. 

Gorreana tea, which is harvested between April and October, is a 100% organic product in which no herbicides, fungicides or pesticides are used, as the usual pests of Camellia sinensis do not survive in the island's climate.
