Material description

Porcelain and ceramics are classic materials for making mugs, teapots and tea-for-one sets.

Ceramics, for example, consist mainly of clays that are fired at temperatures of 600 degrees and above. Porcelain, on the other hand, is a form of ceramics but consists mainly of the minerals kaolin (a fire-resistant decomposition product of feldspar), feldspar and quartz. The quantities of the individual components vary and essentially determine the subsequent hardness of the material. Porcelain is fired at high temperatures of at least 1,200 degrees.
